Who we are
TipLore (tiplore.com) is a reference site providing tipping etiquette guidance for travelers. We are a small independent publication.
What this policy covers
This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what your rights are. It applies to all pages on tiplore.com.
What we don't collect
- No accounts or sign-ups
- No email subscriptions or newsletters
- No comments or user-generated content
- No personally identifiable information that you actively provide
What we do collect, and why
Anonymous usage analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get visited, how long visitors stay, what country they are visiting from, and what device they use. This data is anonymized — we never see who you are individually, only aggregate trends. We use it to:
- Decide which countries and services to add coverage for next
- Improve pages that visitors leave quickly
- Track whether our SEO efforts are working
We also use Vercel Analytics, a cookieless visitor counter that counts page views without collecting personal data. This is included regardless of your analytics consent because it does not set cookies and does not identify you.
Server logs
Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically logs requests for security and operational reasons. This may include IP addresses, request times, and user-agent strings. Vercel retains these logs for a limited period; see Vercel's privacy policy for details.
Advertising (when active)
We plan to add Google AdSense once the site has been indexed for ~30 days. Once active, ad units may set cookies for ad personalization and measurement. These cookies will be included in the consent banner and only set if you have accepted analytics and advertising cookies. We will update this policy when AdSense goes live.
Cookies and storage we use
tiplore-analytics-consent— stores your consent preference in your browser's local storage. Contains only "granted" or "denied", no personal data._ga,_ga_*— Google Analytics cookies. Only set after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. Used to distinguish unique visitors.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA, Singapore PDPA, and similar regulations), you may have the right to:
- Know what data is collected about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of analytics at any time
To exercise these rights, you can:
- Use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer to revoke consent at any time
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block GA on all sites
- Block cookies entirely in your browser settings

Children
TipLore is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page with a new "Last updated" date when the policy changes. Material changes (like adding new data collection) will also be flagged in the cookie banner.
