Cultural notes
Plumbers (plomeros), electricians (electricistas) and AC technicians in Mexico set their own price and rarely expect tips. The exception: an emergency call on a Sunday or holiday, or someone going significantly beyond the agreed scope — 50–200 MXN cash in hand at the end is appreciated. Home-delivery workers (propane, water bottles) get 10–20 MXN.
Common mistakes
Adding 15–20% to a contractor's invoice the way you would in the US — they will be confused.
